Mrs. Viau (a.k.a. Master J Veezy)

Kipp Infinity Charter School

“I teach two college level courses to dedicated and driven students in Harlem: AP Statistics and AP Microeconomics. These students work extremely hard to master the complex concepts in these rigorous courses. To supplement regular class time, we meet after school, on Saturdays and during school holidays. These students have all applied to college; virtually all will be first generation to attend an institution of higher learning. All my students are either African American or HIspanic; the vast majority are eligable for free lunch. Despite what are in many cases dire home circumstances, these students are ambitious. They understand the power of a solid education. They deserve the best resources.”

Here is what we need

Your contribution will help Mrs. Viau (a.k.a. Master J Veezy) get essential resources for students, including those below:

The answers to the multiple choice section of the Advanced Placement examinations that my students are scheduled to take will be submitted on scantron sheets. Any stray marks will deem the answer wrong. To avoid any misinterpretation of a student selection answer, and to provide my students with the best possible ability to perform well on this exam, I hope to provide each student with this high quality eraser on test day. To help students practice exam questions, each holiday break, I assign a rather thick package of practice questions. These binder clips will help to keep each packet together for distribution. Learn more »

Students in my college level courses are learning to read heavy text and highlight important concepts. These highlighters will help them to practice this essential skill - before they get to college. Learn more »

These supplies will be used in the "student office center" that I have created in my classroom to provide my students with a work space. Learn more »

With the flu season upon us and students in AP classes unable to afford to miss class due to illness, these wipes will truly help ensure that my students are able to learn. Learn more »

I have a student workstation in my classroom and am trying to create another so that more students can work simultaneously. Our school has one very limited computer lab and my classroom fulfills a dire need in our school. Please help my Harlem students be the best that they can be. Learn more »

For both of my AP classes, I have obtaine excellent videos which demonstrate real life applications of the statistical and economic concepts that we cover in class. These videos bring relevance to the classroom. Since our school has only one DVD player, which is in high demand and is unreliable, I hope to obtain my own equipment so that I may rely on the equipment when I wish to utilize the videos to supplement lessons. My Advanced Placemenet students engage in many wonderful activities which I would like to capture on camera. We also plan to take several field trips which I would like to document. Learn more »

In my statistics classes, we use TI-83 graphing calculators daily. In order to help preserve the environment, I hope to utilize rechargable batteries in the calculators. Learn more »

In my statistics classes, we utilize the TI-83 graphing calculators daily and have to replace batteries frequently. In order to help preserve our environment, I am looking to switch to rechargable batteries for my class set of calculators. Learn more »
