Miss Sara

New Song Academy

“I teach first grade at a small, public school with a special mission to create leaders in the inner city. We are always working to provide resources to make sure out children get the kind of rich, varied school experience that students in the surrounding suburbs take fore granted. Sometimes we have to get a little creative. Your help will make a huge impact in our small community. ”

Here is what we need

Your contribution will help Miss Sara get essential resources for students, including those below:

First graders have trouble sitting still for long lessons or stories. We need to get up and move sometimes. This will help us find safe ways to move in the classroom. Learn more »

More fun ways to integrate movement around the room safely. Learn more »

Many of my students have limited vocabulary. By making things visual it helps my students retain the information I am teaching them. Learn more »

This activity will help support spatial awareness in my students. I have several students with needs in the area of visual processing. Developing these skills will make them better able to understand concepts in math and science. Learn more »

Our school has had some students enter recently who are reading at an early emergent (kindergarten to first grade) level as late as middle school. This would provide better materials for those students to learn to read. Learn more »

This would provide take home reading bags for my students to assure that the books I lend them from our classroom library return to me in one piece. It is difficult in the early grades to find bags that will stand up to backpack abuse and hold larger picture books. Learn more »

I have a classroom computer and a donated computer that I would like to use with the kids. However, there is limited room in my tiny school. I have been looking for options that take up a small footprint. The computer stand I purchased at Target, is not holding up at all. A new stand (or 2) would really help us work more effectively with technology. Learn more »
