Tools To Get More Contributions
Parents and others in your community are eager to help children and local schools, and ClassWish makes it easy to inspire their support.
We know you're busy, so we've provided these tools to make it easy to attract attention and contributions to your Wish List.
The Basics
Printable Wish List
Print them and hand them out during parent-teacher nights, school assemblies, plays, sports events and other school events. Post them around your community: supermarkets, local merchants, library, recreation center, place of worship, etc. Just go to your Wish List page and click "print a flyer."
Email your Wish List
Email them to parents and others you know. Just go to your Wish List page and click "email the list."
ClassWish Flyers
Insert them into: Blackboard, Friday folders, newsletters, bulletins, emails, progress reports, blogs you read, and other existing methods of communication. Get them here »
Display a Banner
Display one of our banners on your website or blog to bring visitors right to your Wish List and ask your friends to do the same.

Let Other Teachers Know
Let Other Teachers In Your School Know
Please let all the teachers in your school know about the ClassWish opportunity! Here's a printable version of your Wish List, with an introductory note telling teachers they can one, too.
Post our flyer in your faculty lounge or workroom, or put one in each teacher's mailbox.
Let Teachers at Other Schools Know
Email and twitter your teacher friends.
If you participate in online teacher forums, be sure to write about your Wish List and provide a link to it.
Your classmates will appreciate hearing about ClassWish. Let them know via your college's listserve or alumni magazine.
Ask your union to help spread the word.
If your students' parents have children at other schools, ask them to pass along the word to teachers there.
Please ask education nonprofits, your credit union, and others that touch teachers to help spread the word.
Online Teacher Forums
If you participate in online teacher forums, be sure to write about your ClassWish List and provide a link to your Wish List.
Get Your Fellow Teachers Involved
Be sure to let your fellow teachers know about ClassWish. We have Teacher-to-Teacher flyers you can post in the faculty lounge, put in each teacher's mailbox, or send via email.
Get Contributions for Your Wish List
PTA/PTO/PTSO
Your school's PTA, PTO or PTSO is a great way to raise awareness of your Wish List! Print our PTA/PTO flyer for you to let them know about ClassWish.org.
School Functions
The people attending school functions and sporting events are there because they care about the school. Let them know about your Wish List by posting a flyer for your Wish List . Perhaps you can have an announcement made: “Help Ms. Johnson bring in three new telescopes!” If there is a program for the event, see if you can get an announcement printed there.
Local Businesses
Many local businesses take pride in supporting local schools, and your Wish List makes giving more appealing than ever. All you need to do is ask.
Your local Chamber of Commerce, Google and your local Yellow Pages are all good ways to find local businesses.
We have a special flyer for local businesses. You can copy and paste into an email or print and mail it, but it is usually much more effective to deliver a flyer in person.
Businesses want to look good to their customers, so if possible, offer contributors recognition for their contribution in your school website or newspaper: “Joe's Pizza supports 6th Grade Math at River South Elementary School.” But don't promise that unless you're sure you can deliver.
Post Flyers Around Town
People love to support local schools. Post flyers of your Wish List at the local recreation center, library, YMCA, community pool, health club or gym, bookstore, or other community hub. Many supermarkets, pizza shops, and other merchants are happy to post flyers about things in the community. You can print a flyer from your Wish List page or feel free to make your own.
School Visitors
People visiting your school care about your students. Be sure to print a flyer of your Wish List and post it on the door to your classroom, where people will see it.
Civic Organizations
Local civic organizations such as the Lions Club, Rotary, Junior League, Kiwanis, and the Chamber of Commerce, as well as local unions, are dedicated to improving life in their communities, and that includes local schools. Contact them about promoting the Wish Lists for you and your school. Here's a flyer for civic organizations that you can copy and paste into an email or print and distribute. Ask them to let you come and speak at one of their meetings.
Local Community Foundations
Many cities have community foundations that support local needs. Send them a letter letting them know that their members can support your class.
Houses of Worship
Local houses of worship are a wonderful way to get word to people who care about their community and typically support local schools. Ask them to mention the Wish Lists for you and your school in their weekly bulletin, make an announcement, or post a flyer of your Wish List.
Alumni
Who isn't nostalgic about the school they attended? Reach out to your school's alumni and let them know of your Wish List. Your former students would love to hear from you.
Social Media
Blog it
Blog about ClassWish, and be sure to display a banner to bring visitors to your Wish List.
Bloggers
Send an email to your favorite bloggers, asking them to write about ClassWish and your Wish List and to display a banner that will bring visitors to your Wish List.
Be sure to join our ClassWish Fan Page and cause on facebook and share it with all your friends.
Flickr and Other Photo-Sharing Sites
Be sure to post photos of the things you receive on Flickr.com and other photo-sharing sites, and tag them ClassWish.
Send a tweet and let people know about ClassWish, especially when you post a wish and receive items.
Media
Local Media
Local newspapers, radio stations, television stations, and websites are always looking for interesting stories about things happening in your community. Download our sample press letter or write your own about your Wish List.
Public Service Announcements
Ask your local newspaper or community magazine to display a PSA (Public Service Announcement, or free ad) promoting ClassWish Lists for you and your school.
Websites
Websites and blogs typically have lots of unsold ad inventory, so it should be easy to get them to run one of these ClassWish banner ads that will bring visitors to your school's page. Here's a flyer you can paste into an email or print.
Be creative. Education is the most popular charitable cause in this country, and people in your community want to help. All you need to do is let them know about your Wish List! And be sure to let us know what works best for you!
ClassWish Eligibility Requirements
ClassWish invites leaders of FIRST Robotics teams and also invites teachers, student teachers, substitute teachers, part-time after school teachers, staff developers, librarians, guidance counselors, school nurses, coaches, principals, administrators, other school employees directly serving students in an educational capacity, and officers acting on behalf of school Parent Teacher Association units recognized by the National Parent Teacher Association and on behalf of other parent teacher organizations (collectively, “Educators”) in K-12, public, magnet and charter schools, and private and parochial that are exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and that are in the 50 states or the District of Columbia (collectively, “Allowed Schools”) to create wish lists (“Wish Lists”) indicating the supplies and equipment they need for their students to excel and to submit requests (“Requests”) for ClassWish to provide particular items funded by contributions to such Wish Lists.
Funded Requests cannot be transferred to another Educator.
In order to register on ClassWish.org and create Wish Lists and Requests, you must attest to the following:
- I confirm that I am a leader of a FIRST Robotics team or am an Educator in an Allowed School, as those terms are defined above;
- The activities for which I intend to use any items received through ClassWish are legal and fall within the standards of my state and/or local board or department of education, and the policies of my school or, in the case of FIRST Robotics team leaders, fall within the standards of FIRST Robotics;
- All information I provide to ClassWish is accurate, and I will promptly update the information to keep it accurate;
- Any Requests I submit and any funding or items I receive are solely for use in my classroom and/or school, or in the case of FIRST Robotics team leaders are solely for use by my FIRST team, and any items I request through ClassWish will not be for my or anyone else’s personal use;
- I agree that any items provided to me by ClassWish shall become and remain the property of (i) the school to which ClassWish has them delivered, and I will not take such items to another school, or (ii) in the case of a FIRST Robotics team such items provided to me by ClassWish or purchased with funds provided to me by ClassWish shall become and remain the property of the FIRST Robotics team or, if such is dissolved, shall become the property of FIRST Robotics.
- I commit to including in my Wish Lists and Requests only items that will benefit my students’ education, including extracurricular activities, and to use any items that I receive from ClassWish only for such purposes.
- I agree that in the event that ClassWish determines that any items I received through ClassWish are not being used in accordance with these Eligibility Requirements, I will return such items to ClassWish at my expense. In the case of FIRST teams, ClassWish may rely on the determination of FIRST Robotics in this regard.
